Clinical Translational Cancer Researcher
Two Positions
Assistant/Associate/Full Researcher, two positions, tenure-track, 11-month, full-time, to begin approximately in Summer 2009, pending position clearance and availability of funds. Rank and salary will be dependent upon certifications, academic accomplishments, and experience. The successful candidate will be given a joint appointment with the UHM School of Medicine and will have the opportunity to develop a clinical practice in the local hospitals that partner with CRCH.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent, nationally funded research program that translates discoveries from the basic science laboratory to clinical practice. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty members of CRCH research programs and colleagues from the UHM School of Medicine. Candidates may choose to participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and graduate students.
Minimum qualifications: Assistant: MD and/or PhD in the biomedical sciences; research experience in biomedical sciences; ability to generate research proposals and potential to obtain research funding; record of scholarly publications. If MD must be board eligible or certified and eligible for Hawaii medical license. Associate: Same as Assistant, with at least 4 years experience as an Assistant Researcher or equivalent, a track record in extramural research funding; recognition for scholarly contributions. If MD must be board certified. Full: Same as Associate, with at least 4 years experience as an Associate Researcher or equivalent; a sustained record of peer reviewed funding from NCI and/or other peer-reviewed national funding bodies in cancer research; a strong record of recent publications; evidence of national or international recognition for research productivity.
Desirable qualifications:
Assistant: a track record in extramural research funding.
All ranks: A strong research track record with national peer-reviewed funding in cancer research together with a proven record of translational clinical research. Funding in the areas of thoracic oncology, immunology, molecular genetics and gene environment interaction is also desirable.
Pay range: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
