Molecular and Cellular Biology of Cancer
(Semester)
Besides the research training received in the laboratories and the Student Enrichment Activities, advanced undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers participate in the Molecular and Cellular Biology of Cancer journal club (CMB 654C). This journal club involves student-driven discussions of the latest research papers focused on the mechanisms underlying the genesis and maintenance of cancer cells, tumor cell invasion, and metastasis. Past topics have included: oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, DNA repair, regulation of the cell cycle, cancer cell signaling, apoptosis, autophagy, senescence, microRNAs, and cancer stem cells. CMB 654C is available as a 1 credit graduate level course in the CMB graduate program. Course instructors are members of the NPCB Program and include: Drs. Andre Bachmann, Alan F. Lau, Patricia Lorenzo, and Joe Ramos.
