The Friends of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i’s Annual Fund Raiser Embraces Oktoberfest Theme on Saturday, October 8

The Friends of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i will host its fifth annual Mauka Makai fund raising event on Saturday, October 8 in celebration of Hawai‘i’s support for cancer research.

This year’s fund raiser is being celebrated as the Merchant Street Oktoberfest at Murphy’s Bar & Grill at 2 Merchant Street, downtown, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., and will include an impressive array of items for silent and live auction.

“ In keeping with the tradition of changing the annual event’s venue, we decided on an Oktoberfest block party at Murphy’s Bar & Grill that we hope everyone will enjoy,” said Rick Humphreys, Friends of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i President.

The lively Merchant Street Oktoberfest will offer a sumptuous buffet of German foods, amid the festive backdrop of live Bavarian and German-style music. Guests may also bid on a variety of silent and live auction items including artwork by well-known local artists, jewelry, restaurant gift certificates, and vacation getaways.

Individual tickets start at $200. Corporate sponsorship tables are also available. Proceeds from the event will fund the Cancer Research Center’s continuing efforts to improve the prevention and treatment of cancer through research. One hundred percent of all funds raised stay in Hawai‘i.

As a result of the progress in research, there are more than 10 million cancer survivors today. For tickets or more information, please call 808-626-6755 or email maukamakai@brightlightmarketing.com.
