Hawai‘i Cord Blood Bank Making National and International Impact
posted: June 2, 2008Under the leadership of its founder and Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i scientist, Dr. Randal Wada, the Hawaii Cord Blood Bank has helped save the lives of individuals ages 1 to 55 in the U.S. and in Europe. Stem cells collected by the cord bank from the umbilical cords of 29 babies born in Hawai‘i over the past 10 years have been matched to these individuals to fight leukemia, lymphoma, and other potentially life-threatening disorders.
